MetaMask Overview

MetaMask is a browser extension that allows you to interact with Ethereum-enabled websites. It enables you to run Ethereum dApps right in your browser without having to run a full Ethereum node. MetaMask also lets you create and manage your own identities, Coinbase Wallet provider, hardware wallets like Trezor, and supports ShapeShift for cryptocurrency exchanges. In this MetaMask review, we’ll cover the features, benefits, and drawbacks of this popular cryptocurrency wallet

MetaMask’s most notable feature is its ease of use. The extension injects a web3 instance into every website you visit, which means that you don’t have to set up a full Ethereum node or run an Ethereum client like Geth or Parity. You can simply install the MetaMask extension and start using dApps right away

Another great feature of MetaMask is its support for multiple accounts. This means that you can easily switch between accounts without having to log out and log back in each time. This is especially convenient if you need to use multiple accounts for different purposes, such as one for personal use and one for work

MetaMask also includes a built-in password manager, which makes it easy to generate and manage strong passwords for your dApp accounts. The password manager encrypts your passwords and stores them securely in the MetaMask extension so that you don’t have to remember them yourself

Finally, MetaMask supports ShapeShift for cryptocurrency exchanges. This means that you can easily exchange ETH for other cryptocurrencies like BTC, LTC, DOGE, and more

Overall, MetaMask is a great cryptocurrency wallet for beginners and experienced users alike. It’s easy to use and install, supports multiple accounts and hardware wallets, and includes a built-in password manager and ShapeShift support. If you’re looking for an easy way to store and manage your ETH tokens, then MetaMask is definitely worth considering.

MetaMask security

MetaMask remains a reliable wallet, storing private keys on the user’s device and as a “platform” has never been compromised.
In my opinion, the safest way to use MetaMask is to use it with a hardware wallet (like Ledger), in which case MetaMask acts as an external interface, and all private keys are stored on the hardware wallet, which is also used to sign transactions.
